I started my “real” personal relationship with Jesus in 2004, I say “real” because before I started getting serious about getting to know Him, I was just going through the motions of going to church most Sundays, but not reading the Bible or talking to Him on a daily basis.
Here’s my testimony of how Jesus got my attention & I asked Him into my heart & gave Him my life. It was August, 2004 & the word, “Nicodemus” kept coming to mind. I didn’t know what it meant or where it came from. I thought it was something I must have heard off the T.V., maybe a new stop smoking drug? After several weeks, it was still haunting me, so I asked my husband if he had heard of it & he said, maybe you heard it at church, but when I asked our Pastor he said he hadn’t mentioned it, but told me to look it up in the Bible.
I was blown away when I looked it up! Right there in the beginning of John, the 3rd chapter, it tells of a Jewish teacher called Nicodemus who went to visit Jesus at night to ask Him about all the miracles he had performed. Jesus told him in verse3: “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Jesus goes along & explains what it means to be born again & why He was sent here to Earth. As I read the verses I started to cry. I asked Jesus into my heart & prayed to Him to take control of my life & told Him I would do my very best to follow Him & do the work he has assigned for me to do.
I was SO excited & full of joy that I wrote letters to many of my friends in Australia who I knew did not know Jesus the way I did now. I still looked the same, but sheer joy of the Lord was SO wonderful, I wanted to shout it from the rooftops!
Over the past five years Jesus has helped me through some very difficult times in my life & what I have experienced can only have come from Him. I feel so blessed to know that He will never leave me or forsake me, & He will do the same for you, if you let Him.
